Links provided in this post may be from affiliate programs which earns My Memphis Mommy a small commission. Thanks for clicking!

Easter is almost here, are you ready? Are you trying to limit how much chocolate your kiddos get or do you have a baby who you are not giving any candy to but you don't want them left out, here are some ideas from Shana.

Babies 4 months-12 months (without a lot of teeth)

Fill eggs with Gerber melts, baby puffs, cheerios (multi grain ones are Tabby's fave)

basket ideas: bibs, teethers, small stuffed bunny, hair band/bow

Babies 12 months-24 months

Fill eggs with apple jacks, raisins, craisins (nuts if your family does nuts)
basket ideas: balls, board books, hair bands, bows, bubbles

Kids ages 2-6 (obviously you know your kids some of these ideas won't work if your child is younger and is prone to sticking things in their mouth)

Fill eggs with stickers, tatoos, erasers, mini cars, squinkies, rings, silly bandz, a band-aid (my kids love getting a band-aid in their eggs ;0) and of course $money$ ;0)

basket ideas:books, card games( found slap the Jack at Walgreens for $.50 and we love it) chalk, bubbles, kite, coloring books, crayons, Easter craft to make (find these at Michaels's or Hobby Lobby)
Or do a theme!

What are you ideas for older kids? Please a comment to this post.

You can find alot of these items at the Dollar Tree, Dollar General Store for a very reasonable price.

Easter Ideas: Create Your Own Resurrection Eggs

Links provided in this post may be from affiliate programs which earns My Memphis Mommy a small commission. Thanks for clicking!

Easter is a holiday that can be confusing in my house as we love to celebrate spring (especially after a cold winter) and enjoy the fun candy and egg hunts and events that Easter brings. However we do not want our kids to miss the most important aspect of the season, the true reason for celebrating Easter, the Resurrection of Christ. So we try to distinguish the difference between the Easter/Spring celebrations and Easter/Resurrection celebrations. I will feature some of the things we do as a family, would love to hear what you do as well!

Now you can purchase Resurrection Eggs from Lifeway, but you can just as easily CREATE YOUR OWN!
Save an empty egg carton, label the eggs on the outside from 1 to 12, you can have your kids open one each day. You can also make a "tree centerpiece" and hang each of the verses as you open them. (Thanks Heather for the photo)
Or you can mix them in with your egg hunt and ask them not to open those until it is time to read the Easter story. Older kids can play an active part of creating your own set of Resurrection eggs and if you don't lose them, you can keep these for years to come.

Click here to see a great how to that will step by step show you how to create your own set!

Recipe of the Day: Reese's Peanut Butter Bunnycakes

Links provided in this post may be from affiliate programs which earns My Memphis Mommy a small commission. Thanks for clicking!

Deliciously cute!  I bet the kids in your life would love these!  This recipe came from Reese's, here's how to make it:

Peanut Butter Bunnycakes Recipe

  • PEANUT BUTTER EGG BUNNIES(recipe follows)
  • TINTED COCONUT(recipe follows)
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1-1/2 cups REESE'S Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • VANILLA FROSTING(ready-to-spread or your favorite recipe)

  • 1. Prepare PEANUT BUTTER EGG BUNNIES and TINTED COCONUT.

    2. Heat oven to 350°F. Line muffin cups (2-1/2 inches in diameter) with paper or foil bake cups.

    3. Beat butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla in large bowl until well blended. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; add alternately with milk to butter mixture, blending well. Spoon batter into prepared cups, filling about 3/4 full.

    4. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool completely on wire rack. Frost with VANILLA FROSTING. Sprinkle TINTED COCONUT over frosting and garnish with PEANUT BUTTER EGG BUNNY. About 27 cupcakes.

    PEANUT BUTTER EGG BUNNIES:

    1. Unwrap REESE'S Peanut Butter Egg. Using sharp knife cut away about 1/4 inch of the top curved egg section creating a level edge. (This will be the top of the bunny.) Do the same thing for the bottom of egg if planning to attach to hard surface such as a cookie.

    2. Using icing and decorative candy pieces add facial features to egg bunny. Allow features to harden slightly before continuing.

    3. To make bunny ears, cut large marshmallows crosswise into 4 to 5 sections. Take each section and using wet knife cut through center to within 1/4 inch of edge; separate and shape to look like bunny ears. Press one side of ears into pink sugar and if other side is sticky, press that side into untinted sugar. Attach ears to top of bunny with frosting. Allow frosting to harden slightly before finishing bunny.

    4. Attach miniature marshmallow to backside of bunny for tail and to help bunny stand up on cupcake or cookie base. Press bunny into cupcake frosting or glue with frosting to cookie base.

TINTED COCONUT: Combine 1/2 teaspoon water and few drops of food color in small bowl or small jar with cover or re-sealable plastic food storage bag. Add 1 cup MOUNDS Sweetened Coconut Flakes. Toss with fork or shake closed jar or plastic bag until coconut is evenly coated; store in airtight container.

      Enjoy!

    HERSHEY'S Flower Pot Bouquet Craft

Links provided in this post may be from affiliate programs which earns My Memphis Mommy a small commission. Thanks for clicking!
This is a sweet craft that doubles as a great gift!  I found this craft idea on Hershey's website.  **Please note, the website says the candy used in this craft should NOT be eaten**  Here's how to make this:

    HERSHEY'S Flower Pot Bouquet Craft
    Supplies:
    • Small flower pot
    • 6" lengths of 12 gauge floral wire
    • Silk flower leaves
    • Green floral tape
    • Clear cellophane
    • Glue
    • Scissors
    • 1 yard of ribbon or pre-made bow
    • JOLLY RANCHER Jelly Beans
    • Assortment of HERSHEY'S pastel foil wrapped candy such as HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates, ROLO Caramels in Milk Chocolate, REESE'S Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures, and YORK Peppermint Patties
    Instructions:
To Create HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates Roses:
For each candy rose, spread glue on the bottom of one foil-wrapped chocolate. Firmly press the bottom of another chocolate to it. Insert florist wire into one pointed end of the double chocolates, twisting cellophane, continuing down the full length of wire with tape. Add 1 or 2 artificial leaves, if desired, securing leaves in place with florist tape.

To Create ROLO Caramels in Milk Chocolate Blue Bells:
Insert one length of floral wire through the center of 3-4 blue foil chocolate to form blossoms. Wrap remaining lengths of wire with green floral tape, inserting silk leaves at the base of the chocolate.

To Create All Other Candy Blossoms:
Insert one length of floral wire partially through the center of a YORK Peppermint Pattie or a REESE'S Peanut Butter Cup Miniature. Wrap candy with a 4" square of clear cellophane, twisting the remainder of clear wrap around the top of the floral wire. Wrap wire beginning at the base of the candy, over the extra clear wrap, inserting silk leaves.

Completed craft is for decorative purposes only. Candy used in craft should not be eaten.

Recipe of the Day: Chocolate Chip Easter Baskets From NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE

Links provided in this post may be from affiliate programs which earns My Memphis Mommy a small commission. Thanks for clicking!

Shana finds the greatest stuff!  Look at these adorable Easter baskets made out of chocolate chip cookies!  You can find this and other great recipes on Nestle's website.

    Chocolate Chip Easter Baskets

1 package (16.5 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar Dough
    1 cup prepared white frosting
    Green food coloring
    1/4 cup sweetened flaked coconut
    WONKA® SweeTARTS® or SPREE® Jelly Beans
Thin-string licorice, various colors, cut into 3-inch pieces for basket handles (optional)

PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease and flour 24 mini-muffin cups. Place one square of cookie dough into each cup.

BAKE for 14 to 17 minutes or until golden brown. Remove pans to wire rack. If licorice handles are to be added, with tip of wooden pick, make two holes opposite each other on top edge of cup. Make sure holes are the same size as the width of the licorice. This is best done when cups are very warm. Cool cups completely in pans on wire rack. With tip of butter knife, remove cookie cups from muffin pans. Arrange on serving platter.

COMBINE frosting and a few drops of food coloring in small bowl, adding additional food coloring until desired shade is reached.

DISSOLVE a few drops of food coloring in 1/4 teaspoon water in small, resealable food storage plastic bag. Add coconut. Seal bag and shake to evenly coat coconut.

SPOON a small amount of frosting onto the top of each cup. Add a pinch of tinted coconut. Top grass with SweeTarts Jelly Beans. Insert ends of licorice into small holes in cups for handles.

    Easter Craft Ideas Using Eggshells

Links provided in this post may be from affiliate programs which earns My Memphis Mommy a small commission. Thanks for clicking!

People are so creative; I just LOVE these creative ways to use eggshells.  Some of these ideas are worthy to adorn a table!

Flower Arrangements in Eggshells (Martha Stewart)

Break an egg at the top of its shell, drain the contents, and carefully rinse out the inside.

Next, fill the empty shell with room-temperature water and place it in an eggcup for stability.

Finally, insert small cuttings of your favorite blossoms (we used lilacs, lily of the valley, and violas).

Individually or grouped together in a centerpiece, these tiny arrangements make a wonderful addition to the place settings at your table.

    Eggshell Votives (Martha Stewart)

First, make a hole in the top of each egg with a pin; enlarge the holes, and pour out the yolks. Clean shells, then dye them with food coloring (follow package directions). Nestle shells in a carton.

Cut wire-core wicks to 4 inches long, flatten one end, and fasten in shell with a bit of warm wax.

Using a funnel, fill shells with hot wax (tinted with dye pellets).

Let the wax cool. Trim the wicks, and light.

Eggshell Planters (Neb. Dept. Ag.) (FS&B)

This is a super super cute idea I came across that can double as a learning moment for little ones!

Prick a tiny hole in the large end of the egg with the tip of a small paring knife. Working slowly chip away the edges until the hole is about the size of a dime. Run the knife down inside the egg to break the yolk membrane, then hold the egg over a bowl and shake until the contents run out.

Rinse the inside of the shells and turn them upside down to drain.

Optional Dye the eggshells as you would ordinary eggs, being careful not to break them.

Fill the shells up with some soil and plant your seeds.  Add a tiny bit of water.  **One lady did not want to use dirt so she used cotton balls moistened with water instead!  Be sure to add water if your soil gets too dry.

If you want, you can even transplant your little seedling: you simply crack the shell gently in your hand and plant the entire thing, shell and all, into the ground.
