Easter Ideas: Create Your Own Resurrection Eggs

Easter is a holiday that can be confusing in my house as we love to celebrate spring (especially after a cold winter) and enjoy the fun candy and egg hunts and events that Easter brings. However we do not want our kids to miss the most important aspect of the season, the true reason for celebrating Easter, the Resurrection of Christ. So we try to distinguish the difference between the Easter/Spring celebrations and Easter/Resurrection celebrations. I will feature some of the things we do as a family, would love to hear what you do as well!

Now you can purchase Resurrection Eggs from Lifeway, but you can just as easily CREATE YOUR OWN!
Save an empty egg carton, label the eggs on the outside from 1 to 12, you can have your kids open one each day. You can also make a "tree centerpiece" and hang each of the verses as you open them. (Thanks Heather for the photo)
Or you can mix them in with your egg hunt and ask them not to open those until it is time to read the Easter story. Older kids can play an active part of creating your own set of Resurrection eggs and if you don't lose them, you can keep these for years to come.
