As of September 1, 2012 Wal-Mart has made some changes internally which are not listed on their coupon policy due to being a procedural changes for employees to follow.

Here are the changes.

1. All Walmart Register systems were updated to accept the GS1 Date bar Codes.

2. All coupons must be scanned on the flatbed scanners, the handheld scanners are not supposed to be used any longer.

3. The coupon must scan, Cashiers/CSM's or Managers are not allowed to override or manually enter coupons.

4. If a coupon does not scan they are instructed to return the coupon to you. This applies to Printable Coupons and newspaper insert coupons.

To view the full coupon policy visit Walmart.com.

I have shopped at Walmart this week and did not have any problems with my coupons. Have you experienced any new issues? Let us know what you think of these changes.

WALMART STORE POLICY

It looks like Walmart has a new coupon policy. I am SUPER EXCITED about this NEW POLICY I can't wait to try it at one of the more "coupon picky Walmart store" in Memphis! Here are some of the highlights:

They will gladly accept:
-Manufacture Coupons
-Print-at-home Internet coupons that are legible, have “Manufacturer Coupon”printed on them, have a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and have a scannable bar code
-Competitors’ coupons that feature a specific item for a specified price, for example, $2.99
-Soft drink container caps
-Checkout coupons (also called “Catalinas”) that are printed at our competitors’ registers, have “Manufacturer Coupon” with specific requirements printed on them, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and a scannable bar code

Walmart will not accept the following:
-Print-at-home Internet coupons that require no purchase
-Competitors’ coupons for dollars/cents or percentage off, buy one get one free, and double- or triple-value coupons

Walmart's New Guidelines and Limitations:
-Only one coupon per item.
-Coupons must have an expiration date and be redeemed prior to expiration.
-Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.
-We only accept coupons for merchandise that we sell.
- Coupons must be presented at the time of purchase.
-We accept the following with Customer Service Supervisor/Management approval:
-40 or more coupons
-Any coupon over $20
-$50 or more in coupons in one transaction

I really hope that all Walmart's will follow the same rules. I always suggest to go to Walmart's Coupon Policy and print out a copy and take it with you in case of any problems. You can go here to read it or print it. This will be under the Walmart 101 section on my sidebar
