I love finding fun family weekend getaway spots, especially when planning a week long vacation is very hard to do with our schedules. Recently, we visited Grant's Farm in Missouri for their 60th anniversary. I had never heard of Grant's Farm before and was super excited to visit and check it out.

We drove down on a Friday afternoon, making a pit stop in Sikeston, Missouri at Lambert's for lunch. Then, it was onto the Drury Inn in Fenton, Missouri. If you're looking for a hotel really close to the Farm and at an affordable price, the Drury Inn in Fenton was wonderful. They have an indoor/outdoor pool. They offer breakfast, snacks, & a light dinner. They also offer 3 alcoholic beverages per person at night.

The next morning, we woke up and ate breakfast and headed to the Farm which opened at 9am on Saturday (See the operating schedule & hours here). We had a 1pm Clydesdale Experience Tour booked so we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to see everything.

When we arrived to Grant's Farm, we parked in the parking lot which is located between the main entrance & Label Stable (parking is $12 per car and $30 per bus.) Admission to the Farm is free.

After crossing the bridge to Grant's Station, we boarded the tram and took a tour through the 160-acre Deer Park which is filled with Grant's Farm history, animals & much more.

Then we arrived at Storybook Sweets Candy Shop. When you get off the tram, you can purchase a Fun pass for $5 which includes: (1) Sno Cone, (1) Carousel ride & (2) Goat Bottles. I highly recommend getting the pass. When visiting, Grants Farm only accepts Cash, Checks, MasterCard and Visa.

Our first stop was to feed the goats. My daughter was really excited and enjoyed feeding them from outside the fence. When we tried to go in, however, the goats seemed pretty hungry and were trying to jump up on us. Naturally, this scared my three year old daughter. So we went back outside the gate and she enjoyed them a lot more!

Then, we went for a carousel ride which she thoroughly enjoyed.

After the carousel, we went to see the Animal encounters. I love how they get the audience involved and make it fun for the entire family.

Making our way around, we went to visit the rest of the animals while we waited for the Elephant education show. My mom and I were able to sample a Anheuser-Busch product while we waited, which was really good.

After visiting the rest of the animals, we were ready to head back to the Elephant ampitheater. The Elephant education show was really neat. Even my daughter actually paid attention the entire time. She especially loved when they had the Elephant blow up a balloon.

Then, it was onto feed the parakeets & ride the camels (NOTE: the camel ride only accepts cash). I love how many interactive things they have to do at the Farm, which makes it fun for the entire family.

After we finished everything, we decided to cool of in the Bauernhof for lunch. We grabbed our sno-cone & some food from the Brat Haus. After finishing lunch, we decided to head back to make it to the Clydesdale tour on time. The tram line was a little long when we were trying to get back, so make sure you leave enough time if you have a tour time for the Clydesdales. There are several trams that run at once, so it doesn't take too long to wait.

Once we arrived at the Clydesdale tour, we went into a room and learned a little background history on the Clydesdales. This is an hour and a half long walking tour. There are portions of which take place outdoors and off the paved paths. Be sure to dress and prepare accordingly. The cost for the tour is $25 per person. You can book your tour online as they tend to sell out quickly.

It was then time to tour the stables and then we got to meet one of the retired geldings up close. The tour was really interesting and we even got to see some of the horses that are in the famous Budweiser commercials. I would not recommend doing this tour with little ones, especially if it is hot like it was when we toured. It was a little tough trying to keep my daughter interested after the first 30 minutes. But, once we were able to see one of the horses up close, she was really happy.

Thanks Grant's Farm for a wonderful trip.

I've been to St Louis several times and have always heard about Grants Farm, but never have gone. Thanks to your detailed review this is gonna be our first stop next time we head north. I had NO CLUE that they offered all of this. My animal, loving daughter would like this so much more than the zoo bc of education and interaction. Thanks so much!!!!! Glad you had fun.
