Literacy Mid-South’s annual Art of Reading event and Book Sale Preview Party is set to take place Dec. 13 at Germantown Community Theatre, located at 3037 Forest Hill Road, from 6 to 10 p.m. In addition, the annual book sale will be held the following day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the same location.
“Art of Reading is an art event for book lovers and a book event for art lovers,” said Kevin Dean, executive director of Literacy Mid-South. “Local artists were charged with creating a piece that represents their favorite book. It’s going to be fun to see how many guests share the same
favorites. We are also looking forward to the surprise performances we’ve lined up for guests.”
Tickets to Art of Reading and the Book Sale Preview Party are $25 in advance or $35 at the door. Admission includes an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and first choice of more than 3,500 new books. Literacy Mid-South’s Bookworm store will also be set up, and the organization will announce the
2014 Books of Choice, the staff’s personal picks for must-read books in 2014.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, the local community is invited to the annual book sale, where new paperback and hard-cover books will be for sale for $5 or less. For more information about Art of Reading and to purchase tickets, visit www.literacymidsouth.org. Guests must be 21 or older.
