How and What items you can freeze!

Save money by stocking up on items you can freeze!

Hot dogs, deli slices: Freeze 1 to 2 months
Ground meat: Freeze 3 to 4 months
Pork Chops: Freeze 4 to 6 months
Fish: Freeze 2 to 3 months
Beef, veal, lamb: Freeze 6 to 12 months
Poultry: Freeze up to 9 months

Other items you can freeze:
1. Butter, when it's on sale stock up and then freeze it for later use.

2. Bread including bagels, English muffins, muffins, etc. can be frozen and will taste great when you thaw it out.

3. Whole wheat flour

4. Frozen vegetables of all kinds store for awhile in the freezer perfectly.

5. Whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, and buckwheat are fine in the freezer.

6. Coffee

7. Lower fat milk can be stored in the freezer, just remove 1 cup of it before placing it in the freezer as the container will expand.

8. Cheese; If you want it grated for later use then grate it and portion it into Ziploc bags and store in the freezer.

9. Some fresh fruits like strawberries, berries, bananas, cranberries, and grapes freeze well.

10. Tomatoes and apples if you are going to use the tomatoes for a sauce or the apples for a pie or sauce.

11. Fresh corn freezes well.

12. Fresh green beans.

13. Harder vegetables do freeze well. These vegetables should be blanched first to kill mold spores and yeasts they contain. Then dry them well, and place them in freezer bags or freezer containers.

You can pretty much freeze anything except food in cans, eggs in shells, cream sauces (do not freeze well, lettuce, mayonnaise, cheese sauces, processed cheese, sour cream, radishes, etc.
