Would have been a better pic, but this has already been 1/2 eaten |
This recipe comes from my (Dawn's) Mother-in-love who raised my sweet husband and his 3 siblings on very little money. My husband still really enjoys this economical dish:
Deep Dish Pizza
1 lb ground beef
1 sm. can tomato paste
1 sm. can mushrooms, drained
1 can biscuit dough (the cheapest kind is fine)
8 oz mozzarella cheese (or more if you prefer)
Any Italian seasonings you wish to add (we use basil, garlic, onion powder, etc.... my M-I-L doesn't use any)
Preheat the oven according to the directions on the biscuit dough can.
Fry the ground beef, drain grease, mix in tomato paste and mushrooms (add any seasonings you wish).
Meanwhile press the biscuits into a pie dish forming a crust, and bake for 5 minutes.
Fill the partially baked biscuit crust with the ground beef mixture. Top with mozzarella and bake the remaining amount of time noted on the biscuit can.
