Recipe: Hot Chocolate Cupcakes

Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® devil's food cake mix (from 18.25-oz box)
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup Betty Crocker® Whipped vanilla frosting (from 12-oz container)
1/2 cup marshmallow creme
1/4 teaspoon unsweetened baking cocoa
6 miniature pretzel twists, broken in half
Directions:

1. Heat oven to 350°F for shiny metal pan (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Place paper baking cup in each of 12 regular-size muffin cups.
2. In large bowl, beat cake mix, water, oil and egg with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups.
3. Bake 17 to 22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove from pan to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
4. In small bowl, mix frosting and marshmallow creme. Spoon into small resealable food-storage plastic bag; seal bag. Cut 3/8-inch tip off 1 corner of bag. (Or spoon mixture onto cupcakes instead of piping.)
5. Pipe 3 small dollops of frosting mixture on top of each cupcake to resemble melted marshmallows. Sprinkle with cocoa. Press pretzel half into side of each cupcake for cup handle.

Your Baby Can Read Review and Giveaway ( 3 Winners)

Links provided may be from affiliate programs which help support this blog. Thanks for clicking!

Have you heard of the program Your Baby Can Read? I have seen this product featured on TV and heard people talk about it and honestly I am very skeptical about babies reading. Your baby Can Read sent me their complete set (as pictured above) and asked me to review (and yes look below I am doing a giveaway of this product as well).

Ruthanne is 5 and Sophia is 3 and as most of you know I have a 3rd girl arriving end of May. My 5 year old is an excellent advanced reader for her age. She is reading chapter books with ease. Because she reads so well our 3 year old is very eager to be like her big sister. They have had a BLAST looking at the books and using the cards. It is great practice for my 5 year old to write words on the cards for her little sister! They love this product. They enjoyed the DVD (but more about that later). As a note we are perhaps an unusual family as we do not let the girls watch TV except once a week on a Friday night as a family night movie night (and we would have read the book first if there is one for the film). They of course occasionally see videos at church, friends houses etc. but in general they never watch TV. We READ CONSTANTLY! They both have been falling asleep looking at books (and now the 5 year old reading books) since they were old enough to hold a book. We have our 5 year old in a phonics based school program she started when she was 4.

What I like about this Your Baby Can kit:
The instructions are VERY detailed, clear and flexible!

I like that there are 4 levels (each has a book a set of cards and a DVD) and they state you start at the first level regardless of the age of your child.

It comes with books which are very simple and super interactive and the words are VERY CLEAR AND IN LARGE PRINT.
It also includes cards that have the word clearly written on it and then the picture pulls out. It also comes with extra cards that you can write your own words on and with a erasable marker and eraser top.

WHAT CONCERNS ME:
You are suppose to have your child watch the DVD once or twice a day. I did let the girls watch the first one and it seemed to only be 15 minutes in length not sure if the length increases as the levels increase. Since we do not let our kids watch daily anything this would not work for us.

The product states you can start using this program at age of 3 months. I personally am more concerned with other developmental mile stones than my baby reading at such a young age and strongly feel babies this young should NEVER be watching DVD's. Hey I warned you we my husband and I are "old school" ;0) But the books and flashcards are awesome and you don't have to buy all the products together you can completely by it separately.
I was extremely impressed with the Your Baby Can Read products. It will be very interesting to use them with our third child and I will up-date you on my thoughts of the product with a really young child.

If you are new to couponing you may want to read Couponing 101. If you are new to Kroger you can view Kroger Coupon Policy here. Kroger in Memphis and surrounding areas doubles 7 days a week up to $.60!

Make sure to download all the eCoupons to your Kroger card. It's easy and can save you lots of money. Just visit Cellfire, Shortcuts, SoftCoin & Upromise. eCoupons can be stacked with a manufacturer coupon, but will not double. This varies location to location as Kroger is slowly implementing new policies. Be sure and use the coupon database to look up other products you need but don't see in the sale ad and see if there is a coupon for it.
Please e-mail me, mymemphismommy@gmail.com or make a comment on facebook or to this post if you see other deals!

This week is the special CART BUSTERS Event, look for the yellow tag on the product and you will know it is a participating item. No need to buy a certain amount of the products just enjoy the reduced savings!
I have included digital coupons and in some cases with paper coupons which stores in Memphis allow I know the Atoka Kroger is not allowing this and I am told some in MS do not and of course other states it completely varies by region. My store in Cordova still allows both.
Don't forget to try and win the Deal of the Day they will put up a e-coupon from 11:00 a.m. CST-5:00 p.m. they only give out 1,000 products.
