Your Baby Can Read Review and Giveaway ( 3 Winners)

Links provided in this post may be from affiliate programs which earns My Memphis Mommy a small commission. Thanks for clicking!

Have you heard of the program Your Baby Can Read? I have seen this product featured on TV and heard people talk about it and honestly I am very skeptical about babies reading. Your baby Can Read sent me their complete set (as pictured above) and asked me to review (and yes look below I am doing a giveaway of this product as well).

Ruthanne is 5 and Sophia is 3 and as most of you know I have a 3rd girl arriving end of May. My 5 year old is an excellent advanced reader for her age. She is reading chapter books with ease. Because she reads so well our 3 year old is very eager to be like her big sister. They have had a BLAST looking at the books and using the cards. It is great practice for my 5 year old to write words on the cards for her little sister! They love this product. They enjoyed the DVD (but more about that later). As a note we are perhaps an unusual family as we do not let the girls watch TV except once a week on a Friday night as a family night movie night (and we would have read the book first if there is one for the film). They of course occasionally see videos at church, friends houses etc. but in general they never watch TV. We READ CONSTANTLY! They both have been falling asleep looking at books (and now the 5 year old reading books) since they were old enough to hold a book. We have our 5 year old in a phonics based school program she started when she was 4.

What I like about this Your Baby Can kit:
The instructions are VERY detailed, clear and flexible!

I like that there are 4 levels (each has a book a set of cards and a DVD) and they state you start at the first level regardless of the age of your child.

It comes with books which are very simple and super interactive and the words are VERY CLEAR AND IN LARGE PRINT.
It also includes cards that have the word clearly written on it and then the picture pulls out. It also comes with extra cards that you can write your own words on and with a erasable marker and eraser top.

WHAT CONCERNS ME:
You are suppose to have your child watch the DVD once or twice a day. I did let the girls watch the first one and it seemed to only be 15 minutes in length not sure if the length increases as the levels increase. Since we do not let our kids watch daily anything this would not work for us.

The product states you can start using this program at age of 3 months. I personally am more concerned with other developmental mile stones than my baby reading at such a young age and strongly feel babies this young should NEVER be watching DVD's. Hey I warned you we my husband and I are "old school" ;0) But the books and flashcards are awesome and you don't have to buy all the products together you can completely by it separately.
I was extremely impressed with the Your Baby Can Read products. It will be very interesting to use them with our third child and I will up-date you on my thoughts of the product with a really young child.

I have heard SUCH wonderful things about the my baby can read program! My friend used it with her one year old and she has been able to talk very clearly and is able to read the words. I am an elementary school teacher and would LOVE to try this prog on my 6 month old!!

Even though I would be starting late (my daughter is almost 2), I would love to have this system of reading to help hone my daughters skills. I'm still very new to motherhood and I don't know where, or how, to start really sitting down with her and helping her learn the things she ought to know. She's interested in books, and she can say some things, but there is so much more she needs to learn...and I'm confused as to how to teach her. With her love of television and computers (despite my attempts at keeping them off), I think that this system will best hit home with her than any other.

i would love to win this giveaway, because my 17 month old daughter already enjoys reading and I think this product would be enjoyable and educational for her. I'm also not big on watching TV or movies regularly, but watching occasionally and using the other products would still be great for her! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great product!

I have a very eager 2 year old who wants to be just like her older brother who just started kindergarten. I would love some help teaching her how to read. I read to the children all the time but am not sure how to approach teaching a 2 ye...ar old how to read (her brother was not ready till about 4). So far the things I have tried have worked alright but I may not be the best teacher on my own. I would love to win the My Baby Can read series to help her. I believe that she is a bit advanced for her age and want to keep her challenged. Thanks for accepting my entry.

Hi there!
I am sooooooo excited for this giveaway! My hubby and I have wanted to get this program for our now one year old daughter since before she was born. Unfortunately it hasn't been in the budget since I am a stay at home mommy now, and we too are a little skeptical. So we haven't wanted to waste money on something that may not benefit her. Our daughter LOVES to have us read to her and she love to pretend to read books on her own so I know she would greatly benefit from this program.

I would love to try this system for my 17 month old. I have a 4 & 1/2 yr old that is already reading but my son seems to be lagging behind a bit in his speech/vocabulary development for his age. I know you aren't supposed to compare children but our first child had a broader word base at the same age. I am hopeful that this system would help not only his reading but his vocabulary as well.

I am a first-time mom of a soon-to-be 2-year-old girl. Been looking into Your Baby Can Read for a while and trying to figure out how to make the financial investment. I think my daughter would be thrilled with the program as she loves books. She already identifies animals and items in them, and has started doing the same when we are out and about. She recognized the apple in an Applebee's sign the other day and was elated to show it to me and Daddy. I feel she could pick up on reading in a flash. My husband and I were both early readers thanks to our parents investing the time to teaching.

I would love to win this product for my 2 1/2 year old! I recently found out that she has a 25% delay in communication and I think that this product would assist in increasing her communication level!! In order to receive assistance from TEIS (Tennessee Early Intervention Services) the delay has to be at least 40%, so we are pretty much on our own. This product would be a great help to my daughter.

I have a 22 month old son I am concerned about speech delays and would love to try this with him. I also have a 4 yr old daughter starting to read already. He talks babble all the time and words it seems when he wants to. I do not expect him to be as early as his sissy but my husband had problems as a young child and had resource classes. I am a former elementary school teacher and I currently work with preschoolers out of my home. During reading time, I teach phonics, comprehension skills, and vocabulary. I want my preschoolers to be life-ling lovers of reading. It is hard to afford reliable and research-based products to use in my learning lab. This would be a great addition to the resources already used in my learning lab. Thank you.

I would love to win this product because I am very curious about it and really hate to spend money on something I am soooo skeptical about. In the commercials, it almost looks more like word recognition than reading and sounding out words. My husband is a HUGE televison watcher and I would love for my little boy (almost a year old) to rely more on books and reading for entertainment than the t.v.

I would love to win this product for my new niece. She is 9 months old and I truly believe in children getting an early start to education will benefit them for years to come. I read to my now 8 year old daughter before she was even born and now she is very advanced for her age. She has been tested as reading on a 5th-6th grade level and it is because of early education involvement. This product would be a great asset to any child's early development. P. Gillespie
