If you haven't entered the giveaway for the Terra Cycle Tote bag CLICK HERE, it ends on October the 11th at NOON! This has been a really fun giveaway I have loved reading all your re-using tips and ideas and will share my favorites below. Terracycle sent me instructions on how to use 2 Capri Sun pouches and make a wallet, as you see Sophia is proudly holding. If you would like these instructions e-mail me at shanathesavyyshopper@gmail.com with WALLET INSTRUCTIONS and I will send that your way.

Terracycle sent me the 2 items my kindergartner is sporting, a lunch box and a pencil pouch both made out of Capri Sun pouches. She loves these, they are durable and super fun and of course very unique! Are you involved with fund-raising or PTA at your school or would you like to on your own turn in "trash" to get cash and know you are helping reduce waste and create some awesome stuff! Check out the Terracycle web-site for more info and all the cool things they can make from our trash!

Here are some of the great tips for re-using :

We use dryer sheets to dust with, newspaper to clean windows and cardboard boxes to put recycling in we covered them with newspaper and decorated them

I like to take potato chip bags and once I've finished them. Cut them up and make book covers out of them for college classes. I love the reaction I get from class mates. And the Why Didn't I think of that remarks!

We use plastic bottle lids for game pieces. We make gift bags and bows out of junk mail. I poke holes in the lid of milk jugs and fill them with water as watering cans.

We use old t-shirts to make bags for our groceries.

I use old newspapers from home in my classroom for various instructional reasons (reading centers, activities in all subject areas, to protect desks during art projects, etc.). After using them in my class, they are placed in the recycling bin.
I also use old socks and t-shirts as dry erase board erasers.

For any of you who drink coffee...the white plastic "milk jug type" coffee creamer....peel the label off the jug....use your craft scraps and decorate it like a snowman. Great craft for children and you are recycling.
