Have you ever been to the Opera? This could be a great date night or girl's night out! For $32, you get a ticket to the October 7 performance of Aida presented by Opera Memphis. Today's Groupon is good for seats valued up to $65 in the principle seating section, which is located in the mezzanine, grand tier, and orchestra areas of the Orpheum Theatre, just south of Beale Street. You must redeem the ticket within one week.

Aida tells the story of the star-crossed love triangle of a conflicted ancient Egyptian military commander, the Pharaoh's daughter, and the title character, an Ethiopian slave. Each character's loyalties—to family, country, and his or her own heart—are tested as events conspire to force them into difficult and sometimes tragic choices. With music composed by Giuseppe Verdi—who is famous for penning such hits as "Happy Birthday" and "It's Your Birthday"—the opera is sung in Italian, though English supertitles above the stage will keep the audience following along. Hugo Vera and Kishna Davis will use their vocal talents and hypnotic hairdos to draw the audience into the story and hold them rapt throughout the performance. An optional pre-show talk at 6:40 p.m. will give enthusiasts a chance to learn more about the opera, Verdi, and space-time. Click here to get this deal.
