Do you have grandparents, aunts or other family members and friends who live very far away from you and your kids that other wise would be reading stories to your kids? Shana's husband was sent off to D.C. in May to deal with the oil spill crisis. He had less than a 48 hour notice, so he picked some of our girls favorite books he always reads them and recorded himself reading them. When we found out he would be there until the oil crisis was over we began to look for an on-line way for him to record books for the girls and we discovered this WONDERFUL site, A Story Before Bed. You can record yourself reading the book (it shows you and the book at the same time). Our girls were delighted to see Daddy "in action" reading the book. There are GREAT titles to choose from, they instantly started choosing which ones they wanted him to record next!

The first time he tried this he had problems and the CUSTOMER SERVICE is FIRST RATE! The service number is FREE and goes directly to Hillel the co-founder and co-owner. He was super prompt and e-mailing us back and offering assistance.
You can purchase books individually for around $6.99 or get a year's subscription to a selection of books (they add to this) that can be recorded by multiple people. Even when your subscription ends you still get to keep those books you recorded FOREVER. A year's subscription is $29.95. I think this would be a wonderful gift for a grandparent who lives far away from their grandkids to give!

We love this idea and I have already recorded the free books. They are great! I would LOVE the one-year subscription for my family. I want to record The Little Monkeys and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. They are both favorites in our family!
