IKEA Memphis Grand Opening

Are you excited for the grand opening of the new IKEA Memphis store today? I am super excited and can't wait to do a ton of shopping to help complete our nursery before little bit arrives in the next month.

Last week I got to join several other media outlets in a sneak peek of the store and we got to try some of the Swedish food.

The store is massive, so I highly recommend wearing your good walking shoes when you visit (I learned from experience, especially being 8 months pregnant). The great thing is, there are a few "shortcuts" throughout the store.

When we first arrived, we started in the Restaurant to sample a few of the Swedish items IKEA has to offer.
The food was amazing. You can even purchase many of the items in the Swedish Market right in the restaurant.

When you walk into the main Entrance, you will find Småland. Småland is a play area where children can feel Swedish forest atmosphere. While they are playing, you can enjoy your shopping experience knowing your children will be safe and cared for. Kids can stay in Småland for 30 minutes or if your an IKEA Family Member, you will get an extra 30 minutes.
About IKEA Family:

The IKEA FAMILY loyalty program represents an opportunity for customers to
sign-up for free membership (online or at kiosks throughout the store). After
signing up in the store, members will get their card right at the
kiosk. To start saving, all members have to do is to present
their card at the time of their purchase. (Members who sign up
online will need to print their card from a kiosk first.)

Joining provides access to special offers and benefits such as:
•Discounts on select products in each department, in the
IKEA Restaurant and the Swedish Food Market;
•Discount on the IKEA FAMILY department’s unique nonhome-
furnishing products available on the top floor near the Restaurant;
•Free coffee and hot tea in the Restaurant;
•Extra 30 minutes in Småland during non-peak periods;
•The chance to win a $100 IKEA gift card in a monthly sweepstakes; and
•Access to a special IKEA FAMILY website where members can find out
about current offers, news about promotions and events, receive tailored
savings offers based on their profiles, and view product recommendations
based on their purchase history.

One great thing I love about IKEA is, how they make all the tools you need to help shop accessible throughout the store. You can easily find pencils, shopping lists, tape measures, store maps, IKEA catalogs, shopping carts, big yellow shopping bags.

Need help getting your items home? IKEA offers a store to door delivery service. Customers can buy as much as they want and have it delivered for one low price, which starts at $59 and depends on the distance and location of their home. Also, customers who live within the Zone 1 home delivery area can opt for same day or next day delivery, which is available from 5pm to 9pm if scheduled before 3pm daily. This IKEA service allows customers to have an unlimited number, and weight, of furniture pieces delivered.

Throughout the store, you will find room setups with stories which are pretty neat. With such a wide variety of selections you are for sure to find your particular wants and needs.

Of course my favorite section is the kids rooms and accessories. An awesome fact I learned, is all the toys IKEA offers are hands on and not electronic. So no worries on someone giving your child an IKEA toy with a ton of sounds.

If you are able to get by this week or want to wait till the crowds die down, I highly recommend taking a day to visit. This would be a great place for a girls day out. You can grab a bite to eat in the restaurant or cafe and then go exploring all the different items.
