Memphis Best Kept Secrets: Local Book/Gift Stores inside Churches

Did you know that several churches in the Memphis area have Book/Gift stores inside?  Some even have libraries - and some allow non-members to use their library! 

I was recently at just such a bookstore: The Bookmark, located inside the front door of Second Presbyterian Church.  In addition to a great selection of books, they have an AMAZING line of gift items for all occassions (did you know next week is Teacher Appreciation Week?)!  The fun thing about shopping in these lesser-known stores is that you can almost guarentee that what ever gift you buy, the recipient is not likely to get a duplicate gift.  Of course, as avid 'savers', sometimes the bottom line is 'price'.  You can bet these little shop's prices are very competitive - and a lot of times cheaper!

For fun, I took some pics around the store (with the store manager's permission).  Here's a nugget of what you can find atTthe Bookmark:

Love Beets $1/1 Coupon and Product Review

I was recently introduced to a product I've never had before: Love Beets (which is a GREAT name since I do, in fact, love beets).  Remember the pickled beets grandma used to make - with vinegar and sugar?  Love Beets takes that delicous flavor to a whole new - and gourmet - level!  There are several flavors to choose from (see below).  So far, I have tried the Fine Mild Vinegar, Sweetfire, and Honey & Ginger. 

I assumed the Fine Mild Vinegar would be sweet, and closest to my grandma's beets, but it is not; instead, they do have a mild vinegar flavor.  They were good, just not what I expected.

The Honey Ginger Beets made me smile immediately and made me think these would be perfect on a platter with toothpicks at a dinner party!  They are sweet, and the ginger added made me think 'gourmet'!
I am totally in LOVE with the Sweetfire beets!  They were sweet and spicy - not too spicy - but spicy enough that my hubby would not eat them.  Of all the flavors, the Sweetfire will be a constant on my grocery shelf!
