HERSHEY'S Flower Pot Bouquet Craft

This is a sweet craft that doubles as a great gift!  I found this craft idea on Hershey's website.  **Please note, the website says the candy used in this craft should NOT be eaten**  Here's how to make this:

HERSHEY'S Flower Pot Bouquet Craft
Supplies:

• Small flower pot
• 6" lengths of 12 gauge floral wire
• Silk flower leaves
• Green floral tape
• Clear cellophane
• Glue
• Scissors
• 1 yard of ribbon or pre-made bow
• JOLLY RANCHER Jelly Beans
• Assortment of HERSHEY'S pastel foil wrapped candy such as HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates, ROLO Caramels in Milk Chocolate, REESE'S Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures, and YORK Peppermint Patties

Instructions:

To Create HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates Roses:

For each candy rose, spread glue on the bottom of one foil-wrapped chocolate. Firmly press the bottom of another chocolate to it. Insert florist wire into one pointed end of the double chocolates, twisting cellophane, continuing down the full length of wire with tape. Add 1 or 2 artificial leaves, if desired, securing leaves in place with florist tape.

To Create ROLO Caramels in Milk Chocolate Blue Bells:

Insert one length of floral wire through the center of 3-4 blue foil chocolate to form blossoms. Wrap remaining lengths of wire with green floral tape, inserting silk leaves at the base of the chocolate.

To Create All Other Candy Blossoms:

Insert one length of floral wire partially through the center of a YORK Peppermint Pattie or a REESE'S Peanut Butter Cup Miniature. Wrap candy with a 4" square of clear cellophane, twisting the remainder of clear wrap around the top of the floral wire. Wrap wire beginning at the base of the candy, over the extra clear wrap, inserting silk leaves.

Completed craft is for decorative purposes only. Candy used in craft should not be eaten.

Recipe of the Day: Tie-Dye Fruity Cupcakes from JELL-O

Your Easter dessert table is sure to be colorful with this recipe from JELL-O!

Tie-Dye Fruity Cupcakes

1 box             white cake mix (2 layer size)
1/4 cup     dry JELL-O Lemon Flavor Gelatin (1/2 of 3-oz. pkg.)
1/4 cup     dry JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin (1/2 of 3-oz. pkg.)
1/4 cup     dry JELL-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin (1/2 of 3-oz. pkg.)
1 container     (16 oz.) ready-to-spread vanilla frosting

1. Prepare cake batter as directed on package; divide evenly into 3 bowls.
2. Stir different flavor dry gelatin mix into batter in each bowl. Alternately spoon batters into 24 paper-lined muffin cups, adding about 2 Tbsp. of each batter to each cup. Bake as directed on package for cupcakes. 3. Cool completely.
4. Pipe frosting onto cupcakes. (See tip.)

How to Pipe Frosting:  Insert desired decorating tip in pastry bag. Fold down top of pastry bag about halfway, forming a cuff. Spoon enough frosting into bag to fill halfway. Unfold cuffed top and twist bag until it meets level of frosting in bag, To pipe, hold bag firmly and squeeze from top of bag, keeping bag twisted to prevent frosting from leaking out from top of bag. If you don't have a pastry bag, you can use a resealable plastic bag instead. Spoon frosting into bag, then cut piece off one corner of bag. Twist top of bag as directed, then use to pipe frosting onto cupcakes.

How to Use the Remaining Dry Gelatin Mixes:  Combine leftover dry gelatin mixes in medium bowl. Add 1-1/2 cups boiling water; stir 2 min. until mixes are completely dissolved. Stir in 1-1/2 cups cold water. Refrigerate several hours or until firm.

Variation:  Prepare as directed, substituting 1 tub (8 oz.) thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping for the canned frosting. Sprinkle with remaining dry gelatin mixes. Keep refrigerated.

Toyota's 100 Cars for Good - What Organization Do You Think Could Benefit From This??

YOU can be a part of this great program: Toyota USA announced the return of its philanthropic program, 100 Cars for Good, where Toyota will award 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 U.S. nonprofits.  Eligible 501c3 organizations and nonprofit Native American or Alaskan tribes with sovereignty can submit an application HERE.

In communities across the country, vehicles from the first year of 100 Cars for Good are making a significant difference. There include:

•  Ensuring that a soup kitchen in Morristown, New Jersey can pick up food donations that used to be turned away due to a lack of transportation, allowing it to provide meals and food to even more people in need;
• Helping a program near Detroit provide horseback riding visits for kids with cancer; and
• Supporting the efforts of a nonprofit in Wilmington, North Carolina to train and deliver service dogs to wounded veterans.

Benefit TONIGHT for local Middle School Student: Avery Downing

Battle of the Bands - Dance for Avery Downing

When: Friday, March 23rd

Where: Houston Middle School Gymnasium

Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Cost: $12 per person

My husband (former lead singer/songwriter/bassist for Kwench) was approached by a local teenage band looking for someone to be their lead vocals for one night only - TONIGHT.  This local band is playing for a benefit concert tonight for a local middle school student, Avery Downing.  Here is some information about Avery:

Avery Downing is a 13 year old Level 9 competitive gymnast at River City Gymnastics. She is in the 7th grade at Houston Middle School in Germantown, Tennessee. She is in Honor Society and Beta Club and is very active in the Jr. High Youth program at Grace Evangelical Church.

On January 10, 2012 she suffered an accident while practicing on the uneven bars. She broke her back at T11 and T12 which damaged the spinal cord. On Wednesday, January 11, Dr. Warner from Campbell Clinic and Dr. Maullbauer from Semmes Murphy performed surgery to realign and secure the spinal column. The surgery went well.

She has since returned home from Atlanta, GA after receiving physical therapy. She still has a long road ahead of her but is making good strides.

To help support her medical needs, Houston Middle School will be putting on a fundraiser dance this Friday night. It's a "Battle of the Bands" in honor of Avery. We have two bands and a DJ that will battle it out and perform for the kids at the dance.

I (Dawn) am going to be there tonight to cheer the band on, and support Avery I hope I see some MMM readers there.  If you would like to go, here is the information you will need:
