Recipe of the Day: Amaretto French Toast W/Amaretto Butter and Syrup

I really love www.food.com; it is where I find many of my favorite recipes!  Today's recipe comes from food.com and sounds really YUMMY!  It'd be  GREAT for a Valentine's Day breakfast or for a weekend brunch.  **You can try Irish Cream instead of Amaretto for a different flavor :)

Amaretto French Toast W/Amaretto Butter and Syrup 

Ingredients

BUTTER

• 2 tablespoons Amaretto
• ½ cup butter, softened or ½ cup stick-style margarine

SYRUP

• ¼ cup Amaretto
• 1 cup maple syrup

FRENCH TOAST

• 6 tablespoons Amaretto
• 4 eggs, well beaten
• ½ cup milk
• 12 slices French bread, thick sliced
• butter, for cooking toast

Directions

1. For butter, combine softened butter and 2 tbls. amaretto until well blended.
2. For syrup: In small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup amaretto and syrup. Heat to boiling.
3. Remove from heat and allow to cool to warm.
4. For French toast: In large skillet over medium high, melt some butter.
5. In shallow bowl mix all remaining ingredients except bread.
6. Dip bread slices in mixture until just soaked through.
7. Cook in butter until both sides are golden brown.
8. Serve immediately with Amaretto butter and Amaretto Syrup.

Jacqueline Woodson has written numerous award-winning books for young people. She is the youngest person ever to win the Margaret A. Edwards Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Young Adult Library Services Association, is the only author to receive three Newbery Honor Awards—for Show Way, Feathers, and After Tupac and D Foster—and has been recognized by the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Committee for I Hadn’t Meant to Tell You This, From the Notebooks of Melanin Sun, and Locomotion. Her Coretta Scott King Award and Los Angeles Times Prize-winning novel Miracle’s Boys was made into a mini-series directed by, among others, Spike Lee. Her first play, Locomotion, is adapted from the National Book Award Honor and Coretta Scott King Honor novel of the same name, and like many of her works, has appeared on numerous Best Books and Notable lists.

There are 7 cool clolors to choose from Ruthanne loves her red which she calls Ferrari Red ;0) This booster is significantly wider than our previous booster seat, for kids 40-100 lbs,  40 – 57 inches tall and that are at least three years old or older. The dual cup holders will keep drinks and snacks close. We have a CRV and even though this booster is wider, we are able to fit all 3 girls and their car seats in the back! She likes the cup holders that are feature elastic bands which she uses as a "seat belt" for her favorite friend Seadog ;0) I like that the seat cover is machine washable.

CAR BOOSTER INFO

Growing up I cannot remember using a car seat and certainly never used a booster but times and LAWS have changed!!



To know the laws in different states concerning car seats and boosters, visit Governors Highway Safety Association.

Regardless of your state’s laws, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) actually recommends children remaining in booster seats up to age 12. Booster seats ensure that the belt fits properly and comfortably across a child's shoulder and breastbone, and correctly positions the lap portion of the belt across the top of a child’s legs.
