Boutique Sales - Pros and Cons

Boutique Sale websites (aka Sample Sale websites) are a wonderful way to get good quality items at very low prices.

The UP side:
These items are almost always designer brands that the website can sell for up to 90% less than what our local stores sell the items for.  You may wonder how the websites can sell the items at such low prices.  The answer is because usually the items sold are overstock, last season’s model or product, discontinued products, or the manufacturer has decided to change their packaging.  The items are always new, which makes these sites such a great bargain.  Another perk is referral credits.  If you refer a friend (via the personal link the boutique sale site gives you) you will get a credit after your friend makes their first purchase!!  If you refer a lot of people who make purchases you can get some huge credits to use!  Credits generally range from $10 to $25.

The DOWN side:
Some items are not eligible to be returned (if they do not fit, etc.), so read everything to be sure you know what the terms are.  Often, it takes about a month to receive the products you order.  This is because you place your order with the boutique sale site – they, in turn, wait for their sale to be over, and then they place one big order with the manufacturer.  This can take a few days to complete.  The manufacturer then ships everything to the boutique sale site – once there, the boutique sale site must sort everything and then ship it to you.  *Not all boutique sale sites take a month to ship – some just take a couple of days or weeks.

The point:
Definitely use boutique sale sites to save big money on quality items.  However, since Christmas gifts are what most of us are purchasing from boutique sale sites right now you need to really pay attention to their shipping policies.  Generally, you’ll find information on their shipping information by clicking the FAQs link at the bottom of their webpage.

I’ve had great success using boutique sale sites; I tend to buy cosmetics the most.  Here is a list of my favorite ones:
