Zaycon Chicken Challenge Cook-Off DAY 5 Fried Chicken

I am excited to be doing a product review for Zaycon foods.We picked up our 40 lbs of chicken on Saturday! Yes you read that right, they sell their products in LARGE quantities ;0) The chicken was divided into four 10 lb. bags so that made it super easy for sharing! I am keeping 10lbs to freeze, 10lbs to use this week and gave 10lbs These are boneless, skinless HUGE breast pieces of FRESH chicken. The chicken is 100% natural with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients. Comes directly from the processor and has never been frozen!  Today recipe is from Missy Monzo Memphis Mommy Contributor. She made some yummy fried chicken.

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 lb. chicken breast $2.25
Corn bread 2 packages 68¢ (on sale for 89¢ using 55¢ coupon)
Potatoes 2 packages FREE (facebook promotion $1.00 off coupon)
Green Beans 2 can 98¢ (mega Kroger sale)

 DIRECTIONS:
Cut the breast in half.
Soak the chicken in milk for 2 hours.
In a bowl mix 2 eggs and 2 cups of milk.
In another bowl mix 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of bread crumbs.
After soaking take each strip and dunk in the milk and egg wash.  Then drudge throught the flour and bread crumb mix.  Heat up a pan of oil on medium heat.  Place each strip in the pan until golden brown on each side.  Make the potatoes in a pot and heat up the green beans in a bowl.  Bake the corn bread.  Plate food and enjoy!!!

Book Review: Imagination Station Showdown with the Shepherd

Imagination Station  books are Ruthanne's favorite new series of books! She loves the adventures that Patrick and Beth take her on with them! Imagination Station books allow my daughter to experience adventure and history with a Biblical worldview. Focus On the Family launched this action packed series which is similar to the Magic Tree House but it has a Biblical basis and some story settings from Biblical times like the newest book Showdown with the Shepherd book #6 in the series.

In the newest book Showdown with the Shepherd, Patrick and Beth go to the Holy Land in the tenth century BC. Their goal is to get back the ring Hugh stole and return him to 1450s England where he belongs. But troubles await them as soon as they step out of the Imagination Station. First they meet an angry bear and later an angry giant. Set against the backdrop of the David and Goliath story, the cousins learn that having a giant faith is more important than having a giant on your side. Ruthanne was so excited to know what would happen next in the book, she loved sharing the story with her 4 year old story. Showdown with the Shepherd is an excellent READ ALOUD book for the whole family! 

Book #7 is also now available Problems in Plymouth! This is a great book to get for this time of year! Our daughter has been able learn many historical facts about the first Thanksgiving while learning the value of being honest and trustworthy.

Patrick and Beth’s next adventure leads them to Plymouth Plantation in 1621. There they meet William Bradford, Miles Standish, and Squanto who are trying to establish peace between the Pilgrims and the Indians. Things are anything but peaceful, however, when a musket is stolen and the Pilgrims conclude the Indians are planning war. Only Patrick and Beth know who the real thief is—the traitor Hugh—and it’s up to the cousins to find him and stop him from causing trouble. When the cousins hear a gunshot during the first Thanksgiving feast, their worst fears are realized. 

While Imagination Station books are aimed at 7 years and up if you have an avid reader (one that can read a similar book series) then they will be able to handle these books, as Ruthanne is only 6. I think the fact that Imagination Station books challenge her vocabulary and have the history and adventure aspect is what draws her to these books. As a parent I worry about her as young child who is reading other books that are aimed at an older audience with Imagination Station books I can know that the themes and values shared are appropriate for our young daughter.

 She can hardly wait for the next book to come out, look at the cover, Secrets of the Princes Tomb will be released in January 2012.

 Book # 8 Mystery of the Starlight Island will be released in May 2012. 

We highly recommend the Imagination Station Series!

Where is this?
in The conference room at the Cordova library, the library opens at exactly 10:00 so no need to arrive early.

Can kids attend?

YES, please plan to watch them and their sweet little crumbs ;0) I will provide blocks!


Do I have to come right at 10 a.m. or stay the whole time?

NO THIS IS AN OPEN TO ANYBODY to drop in or stay the whole time event!!!


How many coupons do I need to bring?

ACTUALLY NONE, if you don't have any, no worries, we will have plenty!! If you bring coupons there is no need to have them cut or sorted.


So how exactly does this work?

I will have about 30 numbered folders, if you have any coupons you are not using, simply put them in a folder, we sit at tables and pass the folders around and you take what you want!! No need to cut or sort your unwanted coupons.


Anything else I can bring to swap?

Yes you can bring coupons city books or books themselves.

What else should I bring?

You can bring your coupon folder/book etc. if you like and we can look at how different people organize coupons. You can bring scissors, I will have some as well!

EXPIRED COUPONS FOR THE MILITARY
If you have expired coupons that you have cut from the paper (not printables). You may give those to Janiece and she is happy to send them to OVER SEAS bases. She asks that:
You cut them, and separate them between household and grocery.
Only up to month old please!

Can I bring food/snacks?

NOTE: Please do plan to watch your kiddos carefully as the library has no vacuum, I may bring a picnic blanket for them, or if someone has a small hand vac they can bring please let me know!!
If people are able/willing to bring things like that it totally helps our kiddos (and us ;0) to stay occupied ;0)

Leave a comment if you are able to bring something (don't feel obligated), you decided based upon what you see others saying they are bringing, what you would like to bring.
