Family Project: Countdown Idea

The school year is ending and whether your child is counting down to kindergarten graduation or counting down to summer break, it is fun to literally count down! We used the extra bits of printer paper from my coupon prints and the kids colored them and then we simply made a chain. (You of course can use construction paper.) Each day, my soon to be kindergarten graduate takes off a link. I would recommend not doing this further than 2 weeks out of what you are counting down to! You can count down to a trip or a special visitor coming, their birthday etc. this works especially well for little ones who still don't quite get the "time concept". What are you and your kiddos anticipating counting down to?

Once more than 2,500 people pledge that they have achieved this mission, Pampers will respond by giving baby showers to expectant mothers nationwide just in time for Mother’s Day. Pampers will issue different missions throughout the entire year to celebrate all aspects of parenthood, and with the help of parents, family and friends, they hope to touch the lives of every baby born in the next year.

Here are the three finalist and the voting ballot it is at the end. You may vote one time per day, voting ends 5/11 Wed. @ noon and I will announce which entry has the most votes! After you read each of these entries you will see why I need your help and why it would be extremely difficult for me to decide!

ENTRY # 1 St. Jude Mom Expecting Twins

I am entering the contest on behalf of a friend in need of baby items such as this. She is married and has one child who is 12 years old. Surprisingly she recently found out she is pregnant at 39. Not planned but accepting of God's plan. The complicated part starts here. About a year and half ago, she unexpectedly had a stroke due to birth control contraception, she was in ICU on the ventilator and near death. She survived. Shortly following she began having seizures. This can be life threatening for a fetus so there is constant hope to deliver before another seizure occurs. Seizures had also kept her from being able to work or drive. Her husband is in remission from cancer and on disability so he is unable to work as well. About 3 weeks ago, he had a seziure and too was unable to drive. They do not have many family resources to fall back on and are seeing some tough times right now. So many obstacles completely out of their control have led them to these harder times. She is always smiling, always "in control" when I would be falling apart. She works at St. Jude always giving and helping all those families in need. She is a wonderful friend and mother who would be very appreciative of any help so I appreciate you all considering her for the gift.

ENTRY # 2 FULL TIME STUDENT WITH TWO JOBS AND TWINS

I would love to win this $50 American Express Card for a dear friend of mine. She is a student at the university where I work. She has carried a full class load (18 hours!) while working 15-20 hours a week for me and working 20 hours a week at another job. She is a senior in college, so she doesn't have much money. The two jobs she has pay minimum wage and it all goes towards her rent and bills.

She found out last year that she was pregnant. It it her senior year of college and she graduates later this month. She was very determined to graduate on time even while pregnant. Then she found out she was having TWINS!

She gave birth to two beautiful baby boys last month. She was able to complete her senior year of college, work two jobs and take care of two newborns the last part of her senior year. She even came back to work two weeks after delivering the boys!

She is an amazing young lady with amazing drive. I would love to be able to help her out by giving her this $50 gift card. As of next week she will be a new college graduate and will not have a job

ENTRY # 3 Teacher who is moving and has twins on the way

My daughter's teacher from last year could really use this. Her husband got transferred up north for his job so they have had to sell there house and move. It's been hectic for her she has a 2 yr old son and they just found out she is pregnant with twins. She is currently been staying with friends until school ends. She has told me she feels like a hobo because they are bouncing every where and trying to get everything in order. Giving her this gift would be a great help and a little peace of mind for her new arrivals. I've been saving diaper and other baby product coupons so we can get her a stock pile going.
