Candle Research Study Looking for Expectant Mothers

The Candle Study Lighting the way to a brighter future for Shelby County babies! I (Shana) have enrolled in this program and am really excited to be a part of this important research.

What is the Candle Study?

(Conditions Affecting Neurocognitive Development and Learning in Early Childhood)

Candle is an observational research study of the development and ability to learn in children from birth to age three. The Candle study will enroll 1500 healthy pregnant women in Shelby County. You will receive $500 worth of gift cards in total for only 8 visits spread out over 3 years.

Candle Visit Schedule:

• Two Prenatal Candle Clinic Visits

-$50 Gift Card given at the 1st visit
-$30 Gift Card given at the 2nd visit

• Three Follow-up Candle Clinic Visits for Mother and Baby at 1, 2, & 3 years of age

-$100 Gift Card is given at each visit

• When your baby is born you'll receive a visit from a Candle Staff member

- $50 Gift Card is given at the hospital

• Two home visits

- $35 Gift Card given at each visit

We used a swing with both of our girls which they tolerated till they were maybe 3 months old. We put them in the Exersaucer around 5 months and they LOVE IT! They were stimulated and they loved to be able to kick their legs. I always tells parents and grandparents that for me an Exersaucer is an essential item for your sanity. I could bring it to the edge of the kitchen and make dinner and do dishes with a completely happy baby! They used it till around 14 months of age!
