Weekend Volunteer Opportunity with MIFA

Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association is one of Shana's favorite non-profits here in Memphis. They are making a huge difference here in Memphis and there are so many ways you can partner with them. You can donate items click here.
Volunteer Saturday: Want to volunteer at MIFA but can't make it out during the week? Then join them for weekend volunteer opportunities this Saturday, August 28, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Click here or contact Charlie at cnelson@mifa.org to find out more.

Saturday activities

Several volunteer opportunities will be available. You can choose the activities that interest you the most!

• Deliver shelf-stable meals to homebound seniors
• Train to be a Handyman volunteer project leader
• Prepare MIFA holiday cards for mailing
• Train to be a Volunteer Ombudsman Representative
• Tour MIFA and view a volunteer orientation video
• Nominate someone you know for Something Good in Memphis
• Learn about serving MIFA as a representative/liaison in your congregation
• Pick up information about the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest for ages 14-18
• Sort and wrap gifts for Holiday Hope Chest

MIFA Kids Care Club (for ages 9-13)

• Paint and decorate house number signs for MIFA clients
• Prepare celebration bags for children and seniors

Volunteer service credits

Helping MIFA is a rewarding way to earn volunteer service hours needed for your school, church, or civic group. Here’s a sampling of how to earn volunteer hours at MIFA, in your home, or at school.

• Attend volunteer orientation and tour MIFA (1 credit hour)
• Deliver meals (3 credit hours)
• Visit nursing homes (3 credit hours)
• Assemble celebration bags (3 credit hours per bag)
• Sort and wrap gifts for Holiday Hope Chest (4 credit hours)
• Participate in the oratorical contest (20 credit hours)

Walgreens *Official Couponing Policy* Now Online

Today is a big day for couponers at Walgreens because they have posted their coupon policy online! This means you can print the policy and bring it into the store - and not have all of the hassles we have had in the past!

Here is an overview:

-The coupon amount must be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied. (For example, a $5.00 coupon for a $4.99 item will result in a $4.99 coupon value).

-When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.

-The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register RewardsTM manufacturer coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction. The total value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction. Sales tax must be paid, if required by state law.

Memphis Redbirds Games-End of Season

If you haven't been to a game yet you better hurry the season is almost over!! The Memphis Redbirds began their final homestand of the year yesterday Wednesday, August 25^th. The ‘Birds will face Round Rock (Houston Astros) for five games followed by four games against New Orleans (Florida Marlins). After their win Tuesday afternoon at Omaha the Redbirds are 2.5 games out of first place in the Pacific Coast League American North Division.

Thursday, August 26 @ 7:05pm – Mug Club presented by BB Kings Blues Club and Kooky Canuck. $30 package gets fans a Club Level ticket to the game, two (2) Coors Light vouchers, a collectible Redbirds mug and drink specials after the game at BB Kings Blues Club and Kooky Canuck.
Friday, August 27 @ 7:05pm – Final fireworks show of the year presented by Tennessee National Guard.
