Redbirds Game & Fireworks

HOMESTAND INCLUDES REPLICA RING GIVEAWAY, FIREWORKS AND CATCH ON-FIELD


The division leading Memphis Redbirds host the 2nd place Nashville Sounds for a pivotal 5-game series in four days starting this Thursday, July 8th. Thursday’s 7:05pm game features a Pacific Coast League Championship replica ring figurine giveaway to the first 2,000 fans through the gates at AZP presented by Pickler Wealth Advisors. Every Thursday is also Mug Club Night at the ballpark. Fans receive a Club level seat, an exclusive Redbirds mug, vouchers for 2 Coors Light draft beers, and discounted beers after that for $30. Special drink prices are available after the game at BB King's or Kooky Canuck using the mug.

The Redbirds and Sounds will play a double header on Friday with the first game starting at 6:05pm. The teams will play two games consisting of 7 innings each. The second game will start approximately 30 minutes after the first game ends. Gates will open at 5:30pm.

Saturday is Foundation Night as the Redbirds support the RBI and STRIPES programs with fun activities throughout the evening. After the game, fireworks will take place on the field presented by Lumiere Place Hotel & Casino. Also, the first 2,000 fans will receive fireworks glasses courtesy of Golf & Games. Game time is 6:05pm.

The Redbirds close out the homestand on Sunday with a 1:35pm game. Fans are able to experience a unique opportunity as all are welcome to play catch on field after the game. Every Sunday is also Smile Sunday presented by Delta Dental. All children will receive a free hygiene product upon entry. The first 500 fans will receive Redbirds FUNGO cards courtesy of CVS Pharmacies. Gates open at 1:00 pm.

Reminder Memphis Library Reading Program

NOT TOO LATE TO STILL SIGN UP!!

The Memphis Public Library has a wonderful summer reading program! We have participated for 2 summers and the girls have loved it. All ages (they even have a program for babies this year) can participate and you get a new book just for signing up and lots of great prizes (coupons for free food etc!!) Summer Reading 2010 begins June 1 and there's something for everyone. Kids, teens and adults can earn prizes for reading. Visit your local branch for more information, click here. Don't just sign your kids up, grab some entry forms for yourself and enter when you read a book (or listen to a book on tape) or even read the newspaper! Women's Running Program

Do you ever say to yourself"one of these days I am going to run a 5k"? But you get discouraged running on your own and are not even sure how to train? Well let me tell you about one of the best things I have discovered in Memphis! The Women Run/Walk Memphis 10 week training program. First it is only $20 if you register before 7/19 (and $25 after that). You meet with your group each Monday night at Shelby Farms Park and run. The design a running schedule for you that you are to run each week. One of the philosophy's of the program is NEVER RUN ALONE, you meet so many women (there were over 250 women last year) and everyone is connected through an e-mail group that you will discover a great support team.
You can choose to walk (and they have different fitness levels of walkers), if you choose one group and it seems to fast for you then you can switch to another pace group. This program is totally centered on helping you attain your running goal. They even have an advanced group, but most of the women in this program have never ran before or are very new to running.
Shana did this program last year her first time to ever train to run a race and then she did the St. Jude 1/2 Marathon and now is an avid runner.
There is a kick off meeting at the Ag Center which will give you all the info you need and give you the chance to meet your trainers and ask questions. You can register then or even now on-line.
At the completion of the 10 week training there is a 5k race, where each participant gets a medal and there are tons of giveaways and prizes. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail shanathesavvyshopper@gmail.com and ask. This running program is open to teens as well!

10-Week Training Clinic

The 10-week training program will kick off on Monday July 12, 2010 from 4:30 - 7:30 PM at the Agricenter International at an open-house style expo with basic information about the program, Speakers, Exhibits and Training Information. Come and go as you can/want to.

The program will continue with pacing-oriented training clinics every Monday evening from July 19th through September 13th (NO training on Labor Day, Sept. 6th). The 'Graduation' 5K will be held Saturday, September 18th, 8am at Oak Court Mall. This race is open only to women who have registered for - and completed - the training program.

REGISTRATION ENDS AUGUST 9, 2010
NO registrations will be accepted after this date

John Morrell Product Review and COUPON Print

John Morrell asked Shana to do a product review of their NEW line of meats.
I am so super excited about these products! Three years ago our second daughter could not tolerate any dairy or soy, the "allergen free formulas" did not work for her, so I had to go on a soy, dairy, wheat free diet! It was an eye opening experience. I had no idea that SOY IS IN EVERYTHING, as is dairy, all hot dogs have casein (which is a dairy by-product) well not anymore, just this year John Morrell has DEVELOPED THREE PRODUCTS, hot dogs, smoked sausage, and bologna all ALLERGEN FREE! I have met so many people here in Memphis who have family members with food allergies! This a product you have to try!

No milk, no eggs, no nuts, no fish, no soy, no wheat - NO WORRIES! Allergen FREE! These products are made in a complete separate facility from any other product!

They sent me a free product coupon and I purchased their hot dogs. They were delicious and full of flavor! My girls ate them right up with no complaints! While John Morrell is a company that is almost everywhere, this product line is not yet, but lucky for us, Memphis is one of the launch cities, so I was able to find it easily at Kroger! It is also available in Walmart! Best news is they have a coupon print $1/3 available on their facebook page. If you are reading this and not from Memphis don't despair, print the coupon now (while it is available) and if your local store carries John Morrell ask this about the possibility and timing of getting the allergen free products!

As you know, I love recipes, so here is one I had to share, will post another one later on! Doesn't this look fantastic?

Smoked Sausage Kabobs

Ingredients
1 LB John Morrell Smoked Sausage (cut into 1" pieces)
8 Cherry Tomatoes
8 Mushrooms
1 Medium Red Onion (cut into 1" pieces)
1 Red Pepper (cut into 1" pieces)
1 Squash (cut into 1" pieces)
1 Zucchini (cut into 1" pieces)

Baste with your favorite gluten-free grilling sauce.
Cook on medium-high on your outdoor grill until sausage heated completely thru (approximately 4-5 minutes per side checking often)

Preparation
Cut the John Morrell Smoked Sausage and vegetables into bite size pieces. Place the sausage and any preferred veggies onto the bamboo skewers. Baste the veggies with Balsamic Vinaigrette and grill the kabobs for about 10-15 min. rotating until the meat and veggies are cooked through.
