I went to my local Walgreens (Senatobia) on Friday 1/22 to buy the Aussie shampoo that was on sale with a register reward. I had a $1 coupon from the newspaper circular that clearly stated it was good for any Aussie product. The register wouldn't take the coupon, stating "Item not found". I showed the clerk that I had bought an Aussie product, but she refused to force the coupon. When I asked to see a manager, she told me there was no need, the manager had told the clerks if the register rejected a coupon, they were not to override it. I told her, in that case, I didn't want the Aussie shampoo. I went up to the Hernando store, where the coupon again was rejected by the cash register, but, here, the clerk overrode it.
Is anybody else having trouble with their Walgreens randomly not accepting coupons, or is this just the policy of the Senatobia store?
The problem with Walgreens is everyone is so different. I don't know how many times I've had to talk to managers and in the end get my way. It's so funny I know policy better than them. From what I can figure out from your comment is that you bought 1 Product and used 1 RR and 1 Coupon...is this correct? The Walgreens RR is considered a Coupon. Walgreens will not accept more coupons that products. So in this case in order for it to work you should have bought the Shampoo then bought a small item like 25 cent gum or something then used your coupon and your RR. You just happened to get a great cashier at the next stop. I have gotten managers to adjust stuff but now that I have figured the game out, I have no problem. My problem is finding the products b/c typically they are out of stuff! Let me know if this helped. Good for you for not getting product at the first place when you didn't get your answers. It should be explained.
I'm sorry I didn't make that clear. I was not using a register reward for the purchase. I was supposed to get a register reward for making that purchase. I also purchased some other items in the transaction, but I did not present more coupons than items. Either there was just an error with the register not detecting the correct item, or, perhaps, Walgreens may have programmed their registers not to accept manufacturer's coupons for items that are to receive a register reward? If it's the former rather than the latter, I can't shop there, taking my chances each time whether they will take my coupons; if it's the latter, I thought you might hear complaints from more people. What is Walgreens thinking, not having a coupon policy? It's poor business practice. Thanks for letting me vent. Love your website!
Gotcha! As far as I know you can still get a RR when you purchase with a coupon. The only time you will not get a RR is if you pay with a RR and it's for the same family.
Example:
Bought a Gillette Razor and got a P&G RR then you go back in and they are offering a RR on Crest Toothpaste and you use the RR you got from the Razor...it would not print another one b/c it's all P&G. Gosh that was confusing.
But in case I guess for some reason the coupon was just not working and in some cases that happens anyway.
I haven't had any complaints on not taking coupons its typically the Register Reward part that I have so many questions from and of course, like ALL places it all depends on the cashier.
Thanks for liking the site and taking the time to leave a comment. I love chats and comments it helps everyone out so much!
