St. Louis Arch "Gateway to the West"

Besides the Botanical Garden on Friday, Explore St Louis suggested we visit the St Louis Arch, that evening we did. My son was a little scared at first (he'll be 5 in October) but once we went to the top, he realized that it wasn't that bad. It was really neat getting to share with my family the experience of our nation's tallest man-made monument.

We really enjoyed the Lewis & Clark exhibit (bottom of the arch). It reminded my son of the movie "Night At The Museum". My husband and I would have really liked to spend more time in it. The museum had some really neat things and great historical information. Next time we go back we will definitely take advantage of the carriage rides, helicopter tours and riding around downtown on the bikes as a family.

Unfortunately, it ended up raining that night and the kids hadn't had a nap. After heading to Fountain on Locust "The most photographed restaurant in St Louis and home of the Ice Cream Martini" it was back to the fabulous Hyatt Regency St Louis Riverfront for some much needed R&R! Sorry, we didn't get that many good pictures (it was dark).

How did you like being crammed into that little "cage" going up in the arch? It is pretty tight quarters.

You know it's funny b/c that is what I remember when I was little, but it didn't seem that bad this time.
